Wrong Places Project 2007-2015
I Have/Had A Dream 2008 Edmonton, AB
Once de Septiembre 2008 Santiago, Chile
A Measure of War (Je me souviens) 2010 Montreál, QC
Wrong Places Project is a series of site-specific/ site-responsive public performances. Through researching an archive of specific geopolitical histories, seemingly disparate historical events are juxtaposed and ‘remixed’ – across cultures and languages. The resultant readings, at once dissonant and consonant, are intended to counter our collective historic amnesia, and to re-imagine their continuing relevance to contemporary culture and politics.
Beautox Me 2012
video duration: 5:00
Beautox Me takes our faces as the canvas for artistic intervention. Actors open to experimenting with their facial expressibility were chosen for botox injections. They posed for 'before' and 'after' video shoots while reciting highly affective scripts. The two channels are layered together to highlight the in/ability/inability to make facial expressions as the result of botox-induced muscle paralysis.
This project is generously funded by The British Columbia Arts Council.
Actors: Billy Marchenski & Lesley Ewen
Video: Elisha Burrows
VIdeo editing: Elisha Burrows & Maksim Bentisanov
